FYI, the last computer cost a bit over $1,000 this computer is $499. Possibly the Toshiba does not look as slick, but it functions also or better than the three year old Dell.

It was fast to set this computer up, connecting to the wireless network and to get online took less than ten minutes. The keyboard is full sized with nice key action. The screen is big, bright and really sharp. Nice.

It has many pretty cool features
A button to deactivate the track pad when using an external mouse
An HDMI port for plugging into TVs
The Track pad has a touch feature for expanding and contracting your internet browser
When the computer is asleep, you may be able to charge your toys like ipad, phone.
There’s a media card reader slot for a camera media card

Some drawbacks
The keyboard is not backlit
It is not the thinnest or lightest laptop, but it’s light enough for its size.

Considering the surprisingly low price, the not many drawbacks could not keep the computer from to get a five star review. What a deal!

Positives:
I bought this laptop so that the complete family had a computer in the living room; the two of us use it on a regular base. I wanted something that had a new Intel Core processors and HDMI port so that we could hook it up straight to our TV. The best thing about this laptop is the price with many of the newer features. The screen is bright and the keyboard is nice; I find myself using the 10 key more than I thought I could. Battery is lasting about six hours as I’m surfing the web on Sundays while checking football scores and watching humorous Youtube videos. For those that care about sound this thing does not really make any; the i3 processor does not seem to run hot and the fan rarely turns on.

Negatives:
I took off a star because the machine has many of junk software on it. I wish Toshiba could let their customers to choose an choice that only boots the OS at setup and removes all the needless stuff. Once I removed all the software the laptop loads in 15 20 seconds. This isn’t a serious gaming laptop or a serious media machine; my niece and nephew played some web games and it runs anything that does not require a dedicated video card.

Overall I’m pleased with the buy. I looked around and established off my price/features comparison from a brand I reliable I landed here.

By RegLaptopUser See all my reviews This review is from: Toshiba Satellite L755 S5349 15.6 Inch LED Laptop Fusion Finish in Matrix Silver (Personal Computers) I really have a new Toshiba Satellite L740 bought in July 2011 and just want to warn everyone about Toshiba’s standard warranty coverage. I also bought the expanded three year standard warranty. After five months, I had a single vertical gray line show up on the laptop display about 1/8 inch large, so I called Toshiba support.

After many minor troubleshooting, I was told that vertical display lines aren’t the result of normal handling, that they were an indication of damage and aren’t covered by the warranty. The case manager also confirmed that this could not be protected. He said I could still send in the laptop but that the Toshiba “Depot” could just say it has been caused by abuse and only supply an estimate for fix costs despite of if there were any real signs of damage. I was at a loss.

After searching on the internet, I have found that this is a common practice for Toshiba Support, stating all defects are the result of abuse. Search for yourself before buying a Toshiba product, you’ll find many of alike cases where normal laptop users are refused coverage because Toshiba claims abuse and damage for malfunctions throughout the warranty period.

I bought this Toshiba laptop because they rated higher in dependability, but now I realize that I could rather have a somewhat less dependable laptop, that really has warranty coverage than this circumstance I have with Toshiba.

Regardless, by posting this review I can not possibly hope to harm Toshiba or convince them that they have to stop this practice, they’ll still sell laptops all day long. I only hope to tell others of my experience with Toshiba warranty coverage and urge you to research Toshiba’s support practices. If you still must have a Toshiba, I propose to buy a third party warranty.
