MY daughter wanted a nice computer but could not pay for a Mac with everything she wanted on the computer this is a great laptop she loves it and this is the best 700.00 she’s spent and comes with fitted web cam and lots of memory just great for her she loves this and is built well it isn’t cheap many say heavy, we say well built you’ll like this one if you get it. Rating: MUST READ! flawed BIOS Upgrade
Fellow Amazoners:
I just bought this computer two days ago exactly the DV6 1030US. The HP Update tool suggested that I upgrade the BIOS. The error caused the computer to crash permanently. This is happening now, and HP still has the flawed BIOS update on its web site.
I’d recommend purchasing another computer/brand till this problem is resolved. The work around is kind of complex. I could just hate to see you with what the techies call a “brick” a computer that will not power on, etc.

I bought this laptop for my father because he did not trust his old windows 98 computer for his tax stuff. Seeing that this laptop has pretty nice specifications and great price i bought it for him. He did his taxes and stuff then he gave it to me, but i refused because i already have powerfull computer myself at home. My mother ended up taking it and using it to do the internet and word processing.

This is my 1st laptop, but I really like it. Great design, as projected from HP. It’ll be useful for the general use of computer.
However, it isn’t really for gaming, that is right. 1st, the graphic card Intel GMA 4500HDA integrated by default will not run the new kind of games, and the arrow pads are tiny for game controlling or maybe you’ll use the num pads or purchase many extra game controllers. It’s instead for entertainment Video HD video, music, movies, internet.
But in general, its characteristics match the kind of a multi tasks laptop: Intel Core two Duo 2Ghz GOOD!!, 4Gb of ram really expandable to 8GbGREAT!!!, 320Gb DDR even if windows will show less than that, DVD drive with LightScribe technology for labeling your discs, Office 2007 Home Student trial, and vista x64.
The only trouble with vista 64bit x64 is that it isn’t matched with many types of softwares that were matched with XP and vista 32bit. I believe, if you like to be able to use older softwares, it’s prefereble to have the 32bit version of vista x86. But if you’re for the “new technology”, x64 fits you well.
